Short description of the course 
The goal of this course is to explore and execute high-quality research using big data analytics. We will discuss potential explanatory or predictive theoretical contributions using big data analytics. Methodological guidelines and criteria are presented using exemplary research of different big data analytics approaches. Participants are stimulated to work on their own big data sets and explore the different analytics approaches. Challenges to create and publish big data analytics research with profound academic and societal impact will be reviewed.

Students of the FGV EAESP Master’s and Doctoral Program in Business Administration or in Public Administration and Government, the credits earned will count toward the credits required in the following Concentration Areas:
• Administration, Analysis and Information Technology
• Corporate Strategy
• Marketing Strategies
• Government and Civil Society at the Local and State Levels
 
The expected students' profile to attend the course and previous knowledge required:
Students need to have basic knowledge about research methodology (explanatory and predictive research), quantitative research methods (survey, laboratory and field experiments, simulation), and statistics (regression models).
 

Targeted audience: MSc and PhD students, professors and researchers from FGV and other Institutions.
